Young animal carers to compete
THE SPCA is again looking for young New Zealanders who have shown commitment towards caring for animals in their community. All you need to do is send in a 250-1000 word project of the work carried out.
Your entry can be illustrated with photographs, drawings or a video. The judges will be looking for projects that show initiative, longevity of commitment, creativity and colour in the presentation. There are three separate categories.
First Prize for Categories 1 and 2: The winners in categories 1 and 2 will each win a Canon EOS 3000N camera and a library of Animal Ark and Hodder Moa Beckett books. Total prize pack is worth over $2000!
Second Prize for Categories 1 and 2: The runner up in each category will receive a Canon Sure Shot Owl PF camera and a library of Animal Ark and Hodder Moa Beckett books. Total prize pack worth over $1000!
Third Prize for Categories 1 and 2: The 3rd placegetter in each category will receive a Canon Sure Shot BF camera and a library of Animal Ark and Hodder Moa Beckett Children's books. Total prize pack worth over $600!
School/Class Category
The winning class/group will receive an Animal Ark Library plus a Hodder Wayland educational pack for their school PLUS a Canon MV300i digital video camera. Total prize pack worth over $1500! PLUS special Certificates of Merit will be awarded in all categories.

Please make sure that you have read and understood the Conditions of Entry and completed the correct portion of the entry form, clearly marking which category you are entering under, and have signed before sending with your entry.
Category 1: Aged 11yrs or under as at 31 December 2002
Category 2: Aged between 12 & 18yrs as at 31 December 2002
Category 3: School/class entry. Group projects (min 3 children) only.
Individual projects must be entered in Category 1 or 2.

Conditions of Entry
You may enter as many times as you wish as long as your project is accompanied by an entry form (photocopied entry forms will be accepted) and signed by an authorised adult. Entry is open to all New Zealand residents aged 18 and under as at 31 December 2002. Entry is not open to staff and immediate families of Canon NZ Ltd, SPCA, Hodder Moa Beckett Publishers Ltd or their associated agencies.
The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. All entries become the property of the SPCA and Hodder Moa Beckett Publishers and can not be returned. Entries will not be accepted unless all the information in the relevant boxes above are completed and signed.
Entries must be received no later than 5pm on Friday 31st January 2003 to qualify for judging. The prizes as listed are subject to change but will not be less than the stated retail value.
If any finalists are unable to attend the awards ceremony, prizes will be delivered by courier to the address supplied on the entry form. School prizes will be delivered by courier, for the attention of the contact person, to the address supplied on the entry form. Certificates of Merit will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.
Finalists will be notified by mail no later than 25 February 2003 and the list of names will be published in Animals' Voice and Prime Times magazine as soon as is practical after the list is finalised.
Winners' entries will be held for publicity purposes. All other entries will be destroyed in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993. Finalists in Category 1 and Category 2 and a representative from the finalists in Category 3 will be required to attend the official presentation in Auckland in early 2003. If the finalist is from outside the Auckland area, travel to and from Auckland will be supplied for the finalist only. Winners in all categories must agree to make themselves available for publicity purposes. Entry constitutes acceptance of the above conditions.
