Tasty biscuits
2 cups whole wheat flour
quarter cup cornmeal
1 tsp bone meal
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp cayenne pepper
quarter cup sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds
2 tblspns cod liver oil or vegetable oil
quarter cup molasses (unsulphured)
2 eggs
quarter cup milk
1 tblspn kelp powder
Mix dry ingredients and seeds together. Add the oil, molasses and all but one tablespoon of the milk and egg mixture. Add more milk if needed to make a firm dough. Knead for a few minutes and let the dough rest for half an hour or more.
Roll out to half-inch thickness. Cut into shapes and brush with the rest of the egg and milk mixture. Bake at 350degF for 30 minutes. To make them harder leave them in the oven with the oven turned off for an hour or more.
Canine Crunchies
4 cups chicken
2 cups soy flour
Half cup buckwheat or wholewheat flour
Half cup oil
4 eggs
1 tablesp kelp powder
1 tablespbone meal
1 tablesp brewers yeast
Half teaspoon cod liver oil
Mix all the ingredients together until smooth. Spread the mixture thinly on an oven tray. Bake at 350degF for 30 minutes. If it is too soft, turn the oven off and leave to dry in the oven. Cut or break into biscuit-size pieces.
For variation any of the following can be added:
1 cup grated carrot
1 cup grated cheese
1 small pottle cottage cheese
1 cup finely chopped mixed vegetables
Half cup milk powder
1 cup finely chopped fruit
Freshly chopped parsley or mint.
