Book of the Bitch, by JM Evans and Kay White
THIS is a handbook for anyone thinking of breeding pedigree dogs - read it before you decide, and then read it again if you decide to go ahead with a breeding plan. It is just packed with information written by a veterinary surgeon with years of experience in the delivery of puppies.
The information is arranged in easy-recovery sections so that if your bitch has a problem you can find any information very quickly.
The first two sections cover the day-to-day care and management of the pregnant bitch, with section three becoming more technical in nature giving details of medical problems that are specific to bitches.
The fourth section covers useful information and data such as keeping records of each litter, measuring hormone levels, a glossary of terms, definitions of medical conditions, litter sizes, and other such detail.
A book that every breeder and prospective breeder should consider as an investment in bitch and puppy health. - EP
