Shelter pets find homes through
Marshall Grain adoption program

A LITTLE three-month-old gray male tabby kitten, was one of the first shelter animals to capture a new heart and home through Marshall Grain's new pet adoption program launched this summer.

Marshall Grain, a leading retailer of organic gardening supplies and pet and animal care products in North Texas, and the City of Everman Animal Shelter have teamed up to host twice-monthly pet adoptions at the retailer's Grapevine and Fort Worth stores.

Max the tabby cat was one of more than 20 dogs and cats found loving homes in the first month of the program, which helps match needy pets from the shelter with loving families. The Everman Animal Shelter now regularly visits Marshall Grain's Grapevine location on the first Saturday of every month and the Fort Worth store on the third Saturday from 11am to 4pm. Prospective pet parents can meet and greet rescued animals in a safe environment, handle them and get to know them before choosing a new friend.

Max is simply ecstatic about his new home. With a giant house and yard, and another kitty for him to play with, he could want for nothing. Along with his new very healthy diet, he has plenty of play time every day and is even allowed to sleep with his new family.

As recommended one of the first things the family did for Max after they took him home was to take him to the Veterinarian to make sure he had no health problems and that his vaccinations were up to date. Now he is a happy and healthy family member.

Adoptions are $30 each. (Fees are collected by the City of Everman.) The City of Everman also requires that adopters agree to sterilize their new pet.

The store's business has evolved to offer a greater variety of food and supplies for companion animals such as dogs, cats and birds, and organic gardening supplies, while continuing to serve the needs of long-time customers for ranch products.
