Canine Partners announces
bluebell walk campaign
LAST month Canine Partners, a charity specialising in providing highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities, announced its 2009 Bluebell Walk Campaign supported by Purina Petcare. The charity is currently looking for walk organisers throughout the country who would like to set up an event in their area as a way to raise funds for Canine Partners, and to participate in a fun and healthy day out for all the family.
The Bluebell Walk Campaign was officially launched in 2005 and has to date raised £66,000 for Canine Partners. The idea is for sponsored walks to take place during April and May 2009 throughout the country, when bluebells are expected to be in bloom. These walks will give supporters the opportunity to get together with family, friends, work colleagues and others to take part in something fun and worthwhile.
“The Bluebell Walk Campaign has gone from strength to strength, last year raising £18,000,” commented Malcolm Wells from the Charity. “A Bluebell Walk can be for five to 100 people, covering distances from one mile to 10 miles and participants don’t even have to own a dog. We ask anyone interested in organising a walk in their local area to get in touch with us for more information.”
All Walk Organisers will be sent a free information pack containing details on how to make the walk a great success, as well as sponsorship forms, posters, pens and keyrings. Canine Partners is also happy to help publicise local walks to ensure the highest level of participation.

About Canine Partners
Officially launched in 1990, Canine Partners enables people with disabilities to enjoy greater independence and a better quality of life through the help of specially trained dogs.
Training assistance dogs to transform the lives of people with disabilities enriches human life in practical ways - assistance dogs help with dressing and undressing, supermarket shopping and vital emergency response procedures. In addition, the companionship of a dog provides physiological, psychological and social benefits that help keep people healthy and happy.
As a registered charity Canine Partners receives no government funding and is wholly dependant on public donations and legacies. For further information on fundraising, donations, volunteering or applying for a canine partner, please call 08456 580480 or visit the website.
