| Thornbury Castle, just one holiday destination of the many across Britain that can be shared with your dog. |
IF you are saving your pennies this year with the intention of having a luxurious holiday in the short-term future, why not include your cuddly canine friend in a trip to one of the chain of dog-friendly hotels across Britain and let him or her enjoy some well-deserved pooch pampering! The hotels offer the Very Important Pet Package (VIPP) where your dog can choose from a delicious gourmet doggy menu, or receive a complete make-over at one of the on-site dog grooming parlours. To complete the package your dog can expect a welcome treat and a toy to play with, as well as a comfortable basket in which to curl up and snooze at bedtime. For a spot of doggy exercise therapy, dog walkers will lead the way and take your pooch on exciting adventures through the hotels’ abundant grounds and nearby parkland so your dog can experience the best of the British countryside while you relax and soak up some sun.
Cliveden welcomes well-behaved dogs to the House this summer for a relaxing weekend in its beautiful surroundings. Your pooch can be treated to a gourmet dinner prepared by the head chef. With over 250 acres of designated woodland paths your four-legged friend can roam around the beautiful surroundings, while you take in the delights of the walled garden and Orangerie. The Doggy package includes a welcome pack in your room with doggie treats, dog basket, suggested walks and tailored information. Dinner from our chef’s canine menu will be served in your room. Owners can enjoy dinner in the Terrace dining room, breakfast and full use of the spa facilities during your stay. Dog-sitting and walking services are also available. Please note there are some National Trust restrictions within the estate. Dogs are welcome in the bedrooms and public areas, but not the dining rooms, Pavilion Spa or walled garden. Dogs are the full responsibility of their owners and should be well-behaved.
At Gloucestershire the Greenway hosts City and Guilds qualified dog groomers to wash, trim and style your pet as you wake-up to a full English breakfast.
At Washbourne Court their Doggy Dreams package means you can enjoy an afternoon tea of scones and jam while your dog gets its paws buffed and polished to perfection at a local grooming parlour.
The Royal Crescent provides your dog with its own personal butler to assist on two walks daily and to cater to its every ‘woof’, so both you and your pet can enjoy being waited on hand and foot.
Homewood Park has launched its luxury pooch pack which promises to treat furry dinner guests as the ultimate VIPs. Head chef Daniel Moon has created a delicious gourmet menu full of nutritious dishes to give your dog a kick-start to its day so you may well find it’s not you taking your dog for walkies in the beautiful Somerset countryside but your dog taking you for walkies! A discretionary £10 will also be donated to the local Bath Cats and Dogs Home at Claverton Down.
Meanwhile at Lewtrenchard Manor your pet can tuck into a sumptuous menu of beef casserole, braised steak or chicken fricassee - just some of the recipes on offer from their three-rosette kitchen. If that doesn’t whet your appetite then it certainly will appeal to your dogs!
For the more adventurous and sociable canine creature why not visit Ynyshir in Wales where your dog will be greeted by Oscar the Bernese Mountain dog. The hotel is set in over 14 acres of beautiful gardens with tumbling streams, wide open moorland, and golden sandy beaches, creating the perfect outdoor playground that your dog will never want to leave.
At Thornbury Castle resident sheepdog Indie will happily show your pooch around the beautiful Tudor grounds, or let your dog run wild on long walks with Maisie the West Highland Terrier and Sweep the Cocker Spaniel in Ston Easton’s stunning parkland surrounded by the Mendip Hills.
For more refined doggy outings The Mount Somerset is offering its guests complementary tickets to the dog-friendly Hestercombe Gardens so you can wander among the stunning spring blooms with your furry companion.
