CRUFTS 2009 launches on March 5 and runs through to March 8 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham, UK. The doors open each day at 8.15am and close at 7.30pm.
On Thursday March 5 the terrier and hound groups will compete. Friday is for the toy and utility breeds, on Saturday the gundogs will show their skills and on Sunday the working and pastoral dogs take their turn, followed of course by the best of breeds competing for Best in Show.
Crufts 2009 tickets are now on sale online and tickets for the Best in Show competition and the Friends for Life competition and information about the show are also available. Log on to the website www.crufts.org.uk where you can also read all of the results from the show, and information about Best in Group and Best in Show winners from the show in 2000 onwards.
Major sponsors at Crufts this year will be: Eukanuba, which will be running a stand to assist owners with canine dietary needs; ProPlan - one of Purina's leading brands; and Samsung Electronics (UK) Ltd which has been a Crufts partner since 1993 and is heavily involved in the Guide Dog organisation internationally.
Official supporters are: Arden Grange, which produces products that are hypoallergenic and free from wheat gluten, dairy products, beef, soya, artificial colourings, flavourings and preservatives, reducing the risk of allergies and skin complaints; and Royal Canin, which is a sponsor of Discover Dogs and believes in understanding that dogs' nutritional needs are not the same as ours.
Although Crufts has lost some of its sponsors this year the show must go on and preparations indicate that it will be as interesting and as well-patronised as ever. Management is this year stressing the health and well-being of dogs as a priority and will be working during the year to restore and strengthen past and present partnerships.
