Puppy Paws designs to
assist rescue fundraising
PUPPY Paws® Inc (uni-species paw-shaped necklaces, charms and gifts) is pleased to announce the creation of a division designed to assist the fund-raising needs of the not-for-profit rescue and foundation communities.
Puppy Paws® is well-known for its sterling silver and 14k paw-shaped jewelry that features birthstone color gemstones and Swarovski® crystals. “We have supported the not-for-profit communities with our contribution program since the beginning of Puppy Paws in 1999, and have over 300 members throughout the US and Canada. The idea of creating jewelry designed for them and sold exclusively by them just sort of happened” explained Pamela Meltzer, president and Jewelry Designer of Puppy Paws, Inc.
“It began this year when two non-profits asked Puppy Paws Inc. to design their anniversary pendants” explained Ms Meltzer. "Both the Rottweiler Health Foundation (RHF) and the National House Rabbit Society (NHRS) are celebrating their 20th anniversaries and both are very familiar with Puppy Paws. In order for them to be able to afford their own pieces and profit from their efforts we immediately decided to impose no minimum quantities from them.”
The perfect example of this is the beautiful one-of-a kind RHF pendant that features a combination of sterling silver, 14k yellow gold with a 12pt diamond in the center of the H. The Foundation auctioned that piece during its June meeting where it fetched over $450.00. The rest of their order consists of sterling silver pendants that are being sold to members at a profit of about $20.00 per piece. Each pendant is carded with the organization's logo and packaged in a black satin pouch with a silver paw.
Using the NHRS’s existing logo Puppy Paws created the design in sterling silver, added a little pink gemstone for the eye and the pendant was off and selling by the organization. Their pendant also comes with a black satin pouch, but this one has bunny tracks in silver.
The biggest cost to the organization is the hand-carved mold, which depending on complexity, can range from $250 to $400. Metal prices are also a factor due to their daily market changes.
Puppy Paws®, Inc. is a Pittsburgh-based designer of fine jewelry for animal lovers. Original Puppy Paws jewelry is paw shaped and features a simple paw in 14k or sterling silver. They are often accented with gemstones or crystals that represent the dog or cat’s birth month. For rescue pets the actual birth date is not necessary because rescue pets are re-born once they go home with their forever family. The month they go home offers them an entirely new life thus a new birth month.
Puppy Paws® jewelry is made in the USA and is available online at www.puppypaws.com, and in select jewelry stores and pet boutiques in the United States and around the world.
