Meat dishes for fussy canines
Liver in gravy
Heat 1 dessertspoon coconut oil in a pan. Add 1/4 kg beef liver and 1/4 kg frying steak, both cut into pieces, and fry on both sides until cooked but not dry inside. Add 1 cup water to the pan and stir. Thicken by adding a little wholegrain flour mixed to a smooth paste with a little cold water. Your dog will love this served alone, or with rice and vegetables.
Beef stew
Mix 1/2 kg gravy beef chopped into cubes, 1 med tin canned tomatoes, 1 cup water, 1 chicken bouillon cube, dessertspoon chopped parsley and a dash of ground rocksalt and black pepper in a pot and simmer. When meat is tender, add a large handful of organic rolled oats and 2 large carrots, grated. Simmer again for a few minutes until the stew thickens and serve when cool.
Chicken soup
Mix chicken livers, giblets, chicken hearts, chicken necks, and/or chicken frame (stripped skeleton) with 6 cups water and 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley. Cover and simmer for about 2 hours. Carefully remove the skeleton bones and any other bones (neck etc) and strip them of meat and soft tissue, putting these back in your soup. Discard the bones and add some fresh or frozen vegetables (your dog's favourites) to the soup. Simmer for about 15 minutes and serve when cool.
Liver flavoured biscuits
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix 1/2 cup dry milk and 1/2 cup wheat germ with 1 teaspoon honey. Add one 31/3 oz. jar of strained liver baby food or home-made blended liver and stir until everything is well mixed. Form the mixture into balls; place them on an oiled cookie sheet and flatten them with a fork. Bake 8-10 minutes. They should have the consistency of fudge.
