K9 Corps veterans to be honored
A NATIONWIDE celebration of the United States K9 Corps will be held on March 13, 2008 - March 13, 1942 is the organisation's official birthday.
There is a desire in all states to honor our beloved and mostly forgotten war dogs. The effort has only just begun, but already the Dog Museum and groups like the Doberman Pinscher Club of America, the US Army 101st Airborne Association and the ASPCA are participating, with many more to come.
Just saying that dogs are veterans is an awesome thing to say about them, so any like-minded clubs, organisations, groups or individuals are invited to join with us. If you desire to honor the service of the K9 Corps, or would like additional information, please contact:

Fox terrier Sam saved
his owner from crash
SAM the fox terrier, 12-year-old pal of a Te Kuiti, New Zealand man, proved his worth and his loyalty recently when he saved the life of his owner, Keith Marsh, after his car rolled down a steep bank on a remote road in the King Country.
Mr Marsh, 80, was travelling home after a day whitebaiting when his Suzuki Vitara skidded off the road. The 4WD was hidden by bush when it came to rest at the bottom of the embankment, 20km west of the Waitomo Caves. Mr Marsh suffered only minor injuries but was unable to climb up the bank and spent the night in his vehicle. Sam, however, scrambled up the bank and sat at the side of the road.
At about 8.30am next morning two teachers on their way to work stopped to investigate why there was a dog in the middle of nowhere, sitting on the side of the road. When they went over to investigate they saw the vehicle down the bank and phoned 111. Te Kuiti Senior Constable Allan Wells said Sam's actions saved his owner's life.
"If Sam hadn't been with him, it's highly likely Mr Marsh would still be trapped down that bank," Mr Wells said. The 4WD was not visible to anyone passing in a car.
