Flea remedies source
of many problems

Hello,
I found your article while searching for something to support our belief that Frontline has harmed our three-year-old dog. We put it on him for the first time in 2006, at which time he became so ill, we almost had him put down. In June 2007, we put it on him again and he became ill but not as bad. In July 2007, we put it on him again and to this date, he is still very ill. His blood tests have revealed possible liver damage. He has lost 20 lbs. since July 5, 2007. - Jan

Hello Jan,
I am sorry to hear about your dog and the problems you have had. At this stage there is only the dog's health to worry about - get rid of the chemicals (safely, where it can not be picked up by children or animals) and start him on a very natural food plan as I have advised two other owners with a variety of problems in this issue. The only consideration is to get the dog back to health again. If he picks up a few fleas the best way to get rid of them is by flea comb (as long as you are not squeamish about squashing them). It will take a lot of daily combing but your dog will love it - look on it as bonding time! If you really can't spend the time then do try the natural flea remedies, however, I would try to keep the dog off all medications and flea shampoos etc until he gets back some health - and even then, be very careful and only use the most gentle and natural products. His skin and immune system will be very sensitive to Frontline and similar chemicals for life. Do follow the food style that I have outlined in the other letters - and make sure he always has fresh (filtered if possible) water available. I hope he recovers completely and would love to hear how he is getting on in a few months. There is another letter in one of the more recent issues with similar problems to you from Frontline, but it was the owner who became ill and ended up in hospital. - Ed
