Game review:

Nintendogs: Chihuahua and friends

I AM rather enthusiastic about this game. I see it as a lot of fun but also as serving a second purpose - to educate children, (and in a lot of cases, adults as well) about the care and responsibilities required when owning a dog. There is plenty of fun too of course, but there is no cancellation of the bathing, feeding, walking and cleaning up after the digital pet.

The dogs in the game are very realistic, with personalities that suit their breed, and interaction takes place via the keyboard or by using your voice. You can teach the dog tricks, enter it in contests and groom it as necessary, or meet other puppies in barking mode. Many of the game's features can be unlocked by providing your dog with lots of love and care.

But it is not all about dogs - you can earn points through good training and care and redecorate your digital house. And the good news is that chihuahua and friends is just one of many breeds - you have quite a good buying choice. Along with chihuahua this one features the Yorkshire terrier (I love those terriers - all attitude), boxer, Shetland sheepdog, German shepherd and King Charles spaniel.

I would recommend this game to anyone, especially children who are unable, for any reason, to own an actual dog. At RRP $27.82 it is good value. - EP
