Hello,
My name is Sue Martin. I'm a member of the New Pen Del Newfoundland Club. New Pen Del covers the New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware regions. Part of the club function is rescuing Newfoundland dogs that are abandoned or relinquished by the owners. Some are found as strays and put in the Humane League Shelter. We take these dogs in, get them vet checked, groom them, determine their temperament and go through a long process of screening prospective new homes. It is very important to us that we find good family matches that will hopefully result in a long and happy life for these dogs.
Sometimes this can be very costly. Some of the dogs need all their current shots, some need to be neutered or spayed. Some of them are in bad shape when they come to us and require veterinarian care. After the veterinarian determines what is needed for the dog, other costs may be incurred. Operations and medications are very costly and we try our best to give these dogs what they need. We do not adopt these dogs out until we know they are in the best shape they can be in. Sometimes, when we get them, they are in pretty bad shape.
This brings me to the reason I am writing. Our club holds numerous events throughout the year. At these events, we hold fundraising raffles to earn funds to help defray the costs incurred treating and caring for the rescued dogs. Any products you can donate would be greatly appreciated. Donations will be split between the different events our club will hold this year, our Paws and Claws event in July, our Water Tests in September and our October Fun Fest.
A flyer will be made up with all donating companies' addresses and websites listed to be handed out, it will be put in our quarterly newsletter that goes out to over 200 members and this year, we will be listing links to the donating companies on our website.
Last year your donations helped us to earn over $1400.00 for rescue. This is a greater amount than the prior year. Thanks so much for your help! We hope that you will continue to aid us in our efforts to help the Newfoundland dogs that need rescuing. Any help you can give us will be greatly appreciated. Even one item is of great help to us.
