Marshall Grain and Tim's Landscape host paw party

FOUR-legged friends of the river who attend the non-profit organization's first annual Party in the Village, scheduled for 6pm on Thursday, October 26 at University Park Village, 1612 South University Drive, will enjoy a selection of free gourmet treats, according to Marshall Grain Company, a Fort Worth, USA landmark for over 60 years.

As sponsors of the Party in the Village, Marshall Grain and Tim's Landscape will co-host the Paw Pad - an exclusive rest stop for pooped pooches in attendance. While human Friends of the River dine on delectables from more than 20 local restaurants, their best friends can sample a variety of scrumptious yet healthy gourmet treats courtesy of Marshall Grain, and lounge comfortably on a carpet of soft green grass supplied by Tim's Landscape.

Dogs eat free
Marshall Grain owner Jim Connelley emphasised that, while humans can purchase tickets to the event, their canine companions will be admitted absolutely free. And top dogs (so to speak) finishing the race will receive special awards in the form of - what else - food!

"It would be inhumane to expect your best friend to watch you eat while he or she goes hungry," said Connelley. "Some dogs may prefer to share human food, but we think they deserve to have their very own bone to pick. We'll be there to make sure that no dog is left out of the festivities."

Far from ordinary dog food, Marshall Grain's treat selection will include healthy, nutritious snacks made from human-grade meats, dairy products and whole grains, including yummy ingredients such as yogurt, peanut butter and rolled oats.

Celebrate Trinity River
The Party in the Village celebration is part of a new outreach program to gain broader support and enjoy the river as well as to raise money for streams and valleys. It includes a 3.4 mile run through Trinity Park, along the scenic looped trail that begins and ends at University Park Village. All who attend - runners and partygoers - will enjoy food from restaurants such as Escargot, Sapristi and Mellow Mushroom, and music by the popular band, Pardi Gras.

Editor's note: Although this event will be over by the time this issue goes to press, it was included because it sounds like an event that dog owners should put on their calendar for next year!
