I read your alert on one of my dog groups re buyers sending dogs and cats to China and have been doing a lot of lobbying re this horrific issue and would appreciate any more information you have concerning these scumbags trying to get these animals from unknowing pet lovers.

Thanks for your interest - I hope your Fur Protest Day went well and very sorry but I do not have any flyers etc. Yes, these people pose as 'businessmen' to buy animals, saying they are agents for show breeders, or the dogs are for themselves, or they are working for a working dog breeder etc. They have been reported as just cruising around the streets looking for suitable dogs, then going to the house to ask if they have any dogs for sale. Sometimes they make deals with unwary (or just plain greedy) breeders who are very happy to sell all their pups at good prices and don't particularly care who to, or what happens to them afterwards.
There is a lot of information in this magazine's previous issues all online and you can print out whatever you need on the subject at no cost. There are also more letters than yours in this issue so please read the others too. Most of our information comes from organisations such as Paws, Animals Asia, Wspa, Wetnose, Sirius, and various other groups and individuals working in the field. - Ed
