Book Review:

Coping with a pet's death

Cold noses at the Pearly Gates
By Gary Kurz Read and enjoy

THIS is a very comforting book for anyone who has lost a dear pet and is finding it hard to accept that loss. It reassures grieving owners that they absolutely will see their loved family member again and that heaven is just as real for dogs as it is for humans.

Losing a pet can be even worse than losing a person, often because of the lack of comfort in the way society as a whole handles the death of a pet. Pets are not generally included in church life or in discussions of the afterlife and for many people, not knowing whether there is or is not a canine heaven weighs heavily when their best friend dies.

The author treats the whole subject in a sensitive, gentle and convincing way that is sure to make the grieving pet owner feel better about the future.

The author is qualified enough to quote from the Bible, and is able to offer solid detail to demonstrate that animals are also included in any promise of eternal life. He tells readers about some of the marvellous pets he has owned and how he looks forward to meeting them again.

There is another book that may also help some readers called There Is Eternal Life For Animals, by Niki Shanahan, that details rather more strongly the creator's love for all creatures.

A really comforting read and recommended to anyone who loves animals or has lost a four-legged friend. And it is bound to cause some in-depth conversation on the eternal expectations of animals - as well as the human animal.

A must to read and enjoy.
