Book review:

Real food for dogs

By Arden Moore

Artwork by Anne DavisPEOPLE usually like to make or buy treats for their pets, but this is the first book that I have read that offers recipes for a complete meal for your dog. The recipes are practical, nutritionally balanced and veterinarian-approved, and many are designed to require just a little modification to turn them in to the humans' evening meal as well!

The back cover suggestion is that you pull up a chair and invite your dog to sit at the table! (I don't know that I would take it that far, and I am sure your dog would be more comfortable on solid ground). There are 50 recipes in the book, including Munchy pup cakes, Pooch pancakes, Gobble-down goulash and Fido's Thanksgiving feast.

Of special interest will be the section where you can find special recipes for dogs on specific diets. A huge help if you have run out of ideas for a fussy dog or one with a delicate constitution.

Arden Moore is also the author of 50 Simple Ways to Pamper Your Dog, and other nutrition publications. She is a columnist for Prevention, Dog Fancy and Cat Fancy magazines, as well as Petsmart.com.

Anne Davis is an award-winning artist whose illustrations adorn the greeting cards produced by her company, Anne Made Cards. Davis's special relationship with animals inspires her art and her largely commissioned animal portraits appear in many private collections.
